
Pirates offense explodes for ten goals
The Goderich Pirates travelled to Milverton for the second straight game last night and came away with a much needed win.
Milverton demolished a tired Pirate squad last Sunday by a score of 13-5. Sunday was the Pirates third game in three nights and it really showed in the third period when Milverton scored 7 times to handily beat the Pirates 13-5. Last night was a different story though at least for who came away with the win. The Pirates exploded for ten goals in this contest with nine of them coming in the first two periods. The Pirates were ahead 9-5 going into the third period when Milverton really turned things on. With the Pirates leading 9-7 the referee awarded Milverton a penalty shot with a little over three minutes in the game. Tyler Koot made his biggest save of the night on the penalty shot. Milverton still was able to draw within one making it 9-8 late in the game. Glen McCarron than sealed the win with a empty net goal for his fourth goal of the night. McCarron also added a assist on the night giving him a five point game. Other notable goal scorers for the Pirates were Josh Gaynor with a pair. Matt MacPhee had a goal and two assist, Dave Meriam had a goal and a assist, Jeff Silver had three assist, Sean Burton had a pair of assist, Brendan Thomson had a pair of assist and rookie Kyle 'The Rook" Williams had a Gordie Howe hat-trick with a goal, a assist and a fight. Getting the win in net was Tyler Koot.
Up next for the Pirates is another road game tonight in Tillsonburg. The Pirates will be really short staffed for this game as some players already have some family and work commitments. The guys are really hoping for some fan support on Friday at home where they face the Monkton Wildcats game time is 8:30pm.
