Pirates claim B championship

The Goderich Pirates defeated the Drayton Icemen Friday night by a score of 4-3 to claim their first championship in 14 years. The Pirates won the championship series 4 games to 1. Every game in the series was close but the Pirates managed to come out on the winning end. Pirate goaltender Ryan Shelton had a stellar game in net making some highlight reel saves to help the Pirates win the championship. he also went undefeated in the playoffs with a 7-0 record. Dave Meriam led the team in scoring with 22 points in 9 games. Pirates head coach Trevor Bazinet said it was a total team effort to claim the title simply saying everybody on the team had a role and they stuck with their roles to bring the title home. The Goderich Pirates would like thank all the fans in attendance Friday night. It is always nice playing in front of a big crowd showing their support.
