Pirates take 3-1 series lead
The Goderich Pirates find themselves one win away from their first championship in 14 years. The Pirates battled back from a 6-2 deficit to win game four by a score of 9-7. Dave Meriam lead the way offensively for the Pirates scoring 4 goals and adding a assist. Matt MacPhee also had a strong game offensively netting a hattrick and adding a assist while Sean Burton had 4 assist of his own. The game was delayed half way through the third period after a clean hit by Pirates forward Mark Duckworth knocked out Drayton player Pat Downey when his head hit the edge of the boards awkwardly cutting the inside and outside of his ear for 20 stitches. Pirates received news today that Pat is doing just fine but doesn't recall the hockey game at all. The Pirates wish Pat a speedy recovery. The Pirates now have a chance to win the B championship on home ice this Friday night at 8:30pm at the memorial arena the same arena that they won their last championship back in 1996 when they won a thrilling game 7 against the Ripley Wolves. Head Coach/General Manager Trevor Bazinet is hoping for a big crowd this Friday to support the guys in their quest of the B championship.
