Pirates win game 1

The Goderich Pirates managed to squeak out a win in game 1 of their best of seven series with the Drayton Icemen by a score of 4-3.

The Icemen showed up with a short bench but managed to keep the game close with the Pirates. The Pirates scored two goals in the third after trailing 3-2 to come from behind and win 4-3. Scoring for the Pirates were Sean Burton, Scott Jamieson, Matt MacPhee, and Ian Gould scored a beauty for the game winner on the powerplay. Ryan Shelton got the win in net stopping 29 of the 32 shots he faced. Pirates forward Tristan Kolkman suffered a broken arm in the game when he crashed into the boards . The Pirates wish him a speedy recovery. Game 2 of this series goes this Friday night March 5 8:30pm at the MRC.
